Here's what our children say:

''My favourite thing about school is PE and celebration assembly!''  I like being the defender!''  'I love sports clubs!''

National Curriculum and the PE Curriculum Progression Model – our aims

  • At Keeble Gateway Academy, we offer a broad, inspiring PE curriculum based on the National Curriculum and the Elevate curriculum progression model for PE.
  • Our approach to teaching PE is grounded in the three elements of our school vision: relationships, an innovative approach to teaching and having the highest expectations to inspire our pupils to succeed and excel in a broad range of competitive sport and activities from Nursery-Year 6.
  • We aim to inspire and challenge our children, through a safe and happy learning environment, to be resilient and determined and achieve excellent standards in PE and become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness.
  • To ensure any inactive learners are inspired to engage with physical opportunities offered to them and all learners build fitness through sustained periods of daily exercise.
  • To ensure that there are equal opportunities for all children, regardless of background or circumstance, to participate in extra-curricular activities and develop a love of physical education and a range of sports. This is via our school’s Opportunities Pledge.
  • For pupils to develop a wide range of skills and determination to practice and therefore improve.
  • To equip our children with the skills and knowledge they need, to embed lifelong healthy habits and understanding of all aspects of a healthy lifestyle including mental wellbeing and nutrition.
  • To support and encourage our children to be advocates of sport, being proud of their achievements, both individually and as a team player e.g. sports day, competitions with other local schools.
  • To ensure that any gaps in learning as a result of COVID, are closed and pupils meet age related expectations in PE.
  • To prepare and inspire children for further learning in PE in secondary school and beyond to support them in leading healthy, active lives.
